“The art of being wise is the art of knowing what to overlook” – William James

Nowhere is this statement truer than in the field of investments. Every day, we are bombarded with financial information – most of which is irrelevant to the long term investor. For example, we are told what we should buy (and rarely, what we should sell); we are given real-time price information on securities we own; we have access to public databases of analysis and statistics. We live in the “information age.” But the effect of this access to an unlimited amount of information is often confusion, not clarity.

The purpose of this site is to provide clarity by explaining the key areas of personal finance and by recommending long-term financial strategies. This site is organized by subject matter and each section has an introductory page and links to different topics in that subject. Each section is written on a stand-alone basis and can be read without reading another section first.
